WAIHEKE CHORAL SOCIETY NEWSLETTER JAN/FEB 2010

Hi everyone,

Well all our holidays are over and Christmas is just a memory, not a too expensive one I hope and we are now back to normal. Welcome back to the new choir year. After all that hard work we all enjoyed working on the Messiah , it’s hard to believe that it is finished. What a fab end it was to 2009. I missed it for quite a while and found myself humming it at the most inconvenient moments, especially when I was trying to drop off to sleep. It was a resounding success, playing to full houses both nights and the response from the audience was very enthusiastic. We had many many compliments for quite a few days afterwards.

Our Christmas bash at Onetangi hall was one big party and was enjoyed by every one. Special thanks to all for the great entertainment, and a special thanks to Marion for all her help during the day decorating the tables.

Richard has an exciting programme for this year. We will be rehearsing for a concert of Mozart along side of A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, to be known as Forum “in house” for brevities sake. The Mozart will be performed end of April/ beginning of May. Dates to be advised later, Rehearsals for the concert will start on Tuesday Feb 9th at 7.00pm. and Forum music rehearsals will follow at 8.30pm the same night both at Whittakers, and main rehearsals Thursdays 7:30-9pm at the Theatre and every other Sunday 12:30-2:30, again at the Theatre.

It’s A.G.M. time again and ours will be held on 23rd of March at 6.30pm at Whittakers, normal rehearsal to follow. Subs will be due as from then but you are welcome to pay in advance. Mark, our Treasurer is overseas at the moment but any committee member will receive it. Philip is stepping down as President this year as he will be busy doing a course and he needs to concentrate on that. He has been at the helm for the past two years and has done a very good job. Our committee meetings have been very short and to the point. It is amazing what we have been able to pack into them. What I am trying to say is that being on the committee is not an onerous job. We will be accepting nominations from the floor for President and Committee at the A.G.M. Well, that’s all the news for now and I look foreward to seeing you all at choir.
