WAIHEKE CHORAL SOCIETY NEWSLETTER NOV. 2009.
Hi everyone,
Just a short newsletter to let everyone just what we have been up to, we are keeping on track with the Messiah and preparing for next years production .We have been having great attendance at rehearsals and it is showing in the singing. We are growing in confidence in the more tricky parts, and the extra rehearsals for both men and women have also helped tremendously. Posters and ads are being prepared and word of mouth is also working overtime .Performances will be at St Peters Church on Saturday and Sunday, 12th and 13th. Dec. at 2.00pm. The performance at Grey Lynn has not been confirmed as yet, their Parish priest is away so we can’t get an answer, but if we do go ahead , it will be on Friday Dec. 11th. at 6.30pm and we can get the 9.30pm boat back home. Full concert dress for all performances please. Ladies, Black long skirt/slacks, white blouse and a coloured scarf. Men Black trousers, white shirt and a coloured tie .We will be lifting the roof with our performances. A big thankyou to Marion Robertson, who has been a wonderful rehearsal pianist, and also to Kara who plays when Marion is unavailable. We are very fortunate with our friends.
“A funny thing happened on the way to the Forum” We have just paid for the rights to this show, and adverts have gone out advertising the read through. Auditions will be early next year .Cast will be over 15years, it is a great comedy, slightly bawdy with some great one liners, asides, and songs.
Christmas Break-up. Yes the end of year is approaching and it is time to let our hair down. Tuesday Dec. 15th at Onetangi hall, 5.30pm to 9.00pm.Pot luck dinner to augment the HAM and vegies, and a nonsense gift to go in Santas sack. BYO drinkies and if you are a vegetarian please label your dish so it can go away from the others . We will be expecting some entertainment from your good selves, so get your thinking caps on. Please, only clean jokes .As for the nonsense gift. The $2.00 shop and the other places with good value are the places to go, nothing over $5.00. You might even have something at home that ‘Auntie Alice gave us this.’ The more inventive you are, the more fun we will have.Dec.15th is the Tuesday following the performance and we look forward to seeing you all there. Partners/friends are expected .and there is plenty of parking outside the hall.
That’s it for now.
