Meeting started: There were 5 members present so we had a quorum. We will keep having quick meetings every Tuesday until we get the concerts organised

Next Meeting: Next meeting Tuesday February 19th at 6:30 at Whittaker’s

Mozart Concert Mass in C Minor and the Credo Mass.

Soloists

  • Rachael has said she is not able to take part in either concert

  • Pat is also not interested in singing in the Mozart concert

  • George Burrell is keen to take part and will sing the bass part, his son will also sing with the basses and they have recommended a soprano – Tamara.

  • Tamara is studying singing with Frances Wilson.

Orchestra

  • not contacted yet, as we are waiting until we have some dates from the soloists, however we will contact the local musicians to gauge interest

  • Anne has kindly said she will play the piano for the concert as long as there is orchestral support

  • Gillian and David have let us know they are unable to play

Richard

  • To arrange a meeting with Richard and Tamara to have a trial.

  • To ask Robert Wiremu to see if he knows any singers, Soprano soloists in particular

Andy

  • to text Iain Tetley to check he will still sing the tenor part and check what dates he has free

  • Iain is free the last weekend in March Saturday 29 March for the concert, with a rehearsal on Friday 28. Sunday 30 is more difficult, and the next weekend 6-7 April he is not available, as he is conducting the Messiah in Papakura.

  • will ask Iain Tetley if he knows a soprano who might be able to sing the Mozart

  • will contact Helen Medland to see if she will sing soprano in the Mozat masses

Dee – has contacted Sarah Hoult who is interested in playing and would like to see the music.

Music

  • Richard has copied and distributed the music for the Credo mass to the choir

  • Orchestral music needs to be discussed

Richard

Notes – in emails following the meeting we received the following leads for soprano singers

Iain Tetley has suggested 3 sopranos and Richard will make contact with them

Morag McDowell.

Her email address is morag.mcdowell@xtra.co.nz . She is a coroner, one of three in Auckland.

See http://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/arts/545227/The-crooning-coroners
and

Emma Roxburgh

I don’t have any details for her but expect Mark Rosser, an Auckland conductor would have her details, and he can be contacted on mark.rosser@asparona.com . I believe he's worked with her lots and there is an amusing article in The Aucklander. http://www.theaucklander.co.nz/news/free-as-a-songbird/1027951/

Gina Sanders

Gina is a flamboyant soprano with high notes. Her email is gina.sanders@xtra.co.nz and her bookings are managed by her husband John um, different surname, I think.

Sub Committee

Last meeting we agreed that we need a sub-committee to run this concert and any other concert. This was not actioned so needs to be discussed next meeting

Carmina Burana – held over from meeting of Feb 5

  • Kathy, Colin, Philip, Richard and Margarita held a meeting this evening to discuss the Carmina Burana concert.

  • Margarita is the secretary of Kaleidoscope

Phone 372 7678 or 021 02658178

  • Dates for Carmina Burana

The Carmina Burana committee have suggested

Thursday November 07 - Sunday November 10 and

Thursday November 14 – Sunday November 17 with

4 evening concerts and a matinee on the Saturdays

Also a press dress the weekend before on Sunday 3/11

Dee is to check the Artworks calendar and let us know

  • Philip is putting a budget together; Mark will look and see when the deadline dates are for grants.

Dee mentioned that the Creative grants’ meeting is this Friday.

  • Colin and Kathy have lots of ideas for the set which will have a medieval theme. It is likely that the stage will be stripped to allow dancers, choir and orchestra to be on the stage.

  • Kathy will organise the dancers for the show

  • It is likely that Margarita will stage manage the production

  • Choir – Richard says the choirs needs to have minimum of 15 men’s voices for the production to take place.

  • Choir – Andy is to talk to Pat to see if V8 would be interested in joining with us.

  • Choir – the choir will be static. No decisions have been made around costumes as yet

  • Colin is away now until the 27th of February no further meetings will take place until March.

General held over from meeting on Feb 05

Richard feels we need to try and establish more contact with the community and raise awareness and involvement.

Perhaps try and encourage some younger members. How do we action this?
