Minutes of Choral Society Committee Meeting held at 17 Pacific Pde on Friday 30 Jan. 2009.

The meeting opened at 8.10.

Present: Philip, Richard, Mark, Judy, Janet, Marion, Maya, Andy, Ann

Minutes of previous meeting were approved. Andy/Janet

Matters Arising.

Oliver – Performance Rights are not available. Richard has recommended Peter Pan. The performance rights are available and Philip has obtained some advance copies of both the musical and the play for the committee to read. Richard has suggested that the play with musical/dance interludes would be preferable to the full musical.

Marion to check with Dee that all people cast for Oliver are kept up to date re changes.

AGM-to be held at Artworks Theatre on 10 March, commencing at 7.00pm followed by rehearsal – everyone to bring a plate for supper. Ann to place a public notice in Gulf News two weeks in advance. 

 

Finances

The financial records are with the auditors. Two new accounts for payment.

Marketplace $117.00        and Playbureau $12.00

 

General Business

Peter Pan

Rehearsals will follow the schedule prepared for Oliver, starting two weeks later, on 17 February.Performance dates to remain the same at this stage.

The first two rehearsals will start at 6.00pm for all adults and children to go over music. Richard will get some copies to Judy.

Ann to get 6 more scripts copied for committee.

Dee to recontact all those selected for Oliver who have not yet indicated whether they are available for Peter Pan

The contact list prepared at last meeting was reviewed. Jo Woodward and Colin Beardon are available. Andy to ask Colin if he could also do set design. Jenny Knight is not available as Stage Manager. Someone else with experience is needed to support/assist Nicki. Zac Mccracken is keen to be involved – suggested she could help Janet with Props.

Andy to liaise with Dee re Kennedy Point Vineyard for wine sales at shows.

Oliver

Rights for Oliver are available for next year.

that Choral Society apply for rights to perform Oliver in May 2010 Andy/Maya  Carried unanimously

 

Mark noted that Council Grant of $1000 is conditional on the money being used for the purposes for which it was applied ie Children’s workshops in dance, acting, singing , and technical skills.

 

The spotlight purchased with money donated to Artworks by Choral Society has been installed at Artworks.

 

Choir Practices may resume if there are sufficient members who are not in the show chorus, depending on how much work is involved for Richard in preparing music for the show.
