Minutes of Production Sub-Committee Meeting held in Palm Beach Hall 27 March 2007.
Meeting opened at 8.15pm.
Present: Jack Watson (Chair), Richard Melville, Jeanne Mellamphy, Andy Spence, Maya Spence, Barbara Cuff, Marie Watson, Anne Sutton, Margaret Karetai, Colin Beardon, Ann Jocelyn, Stan Edwards, Mary Melville, Phillip Symonds
Apologies: Pat Atkin Andy/Marie “that apology be sustained” Carried.
Minutes of Previous Sub-Committtee Meeting held on 13 March had been distributed and were taken as read.
Colin/Stan :“that the minutes of the previous meeting be confirmed” Carried.
Business Arising: Deferred
Casting of Anna Leonowens.
The meeting was informed that for health reasons, Mary Melville is no longer able to take the role of Anna. Richard suggested that it be advertised for auditions.
Jack/Barbara “that we advertise in Gulf News and Marketplace for women to take the role of Anna Leonowens in the forthcoming production of The King & I” Carried Unanimously
Jack has already appealed through an article in Gulf News for Thai residents and anyone with Thai artefacts to come forward..
Colin suggested that a variety of background information and stories relevant to the show, be released to the papers over the next few months as advance publicity.
Andy made the suggestion that consideration be given to staging the show at the MORRA hall instead of Artworks. Stan had drawn to scale the stage area available at MORRA after visiting the venue with Andy. After some discussion about the relative merits and disadvantages of each venue, it was proposed by Richard/Margaret “that Artworks be booked for the performances “ Carried unanimously.
Margaret agreed to arrange the booking.
Margaret requested that a choir member be asked to be responsible for props for the show. Barbara agreed to ask Christine Hoffman if she would be willing to do this.
Andy agreed to make a list of phrases in the show which need to be translated into Thai.so that a translator can be arranged.
