Minutes of a Committee Meeting Held at the Home of Jack and Marie Watson on

Sunday 17th September 2006.

Meeting opened at 4.05 pm.

Present: Jeanne Mellamphy (Chair), Mark James, Richard Melville, Janis McCartain, Pat Atkin, Andy Spence, Philip Symonds, Marie & Jack Watson. No Apologies.

Matters Arising: It was mentioned that all was well with the Mozart concert, including the advertising. Dee Austring has provided an up-to-date phone list for all members.

Correspondence: An appreciative card from Sister Clare Timpany regarding the Mozart was received. Also, Jeanne and Andy gave verbal thanks to the Committee for flowers sent to them.

Finance: $485.00 was received in koha at the Mozart concert. Allowing for a donation of $50.00 to St. Peter’s Church, this was sufficient to cover costs—that the donation be made to the Church was moved by Philip, seconded by Marie and carried. That Philip be acting treasurer during Mark’s coming absence overseas was moved by Pat, seconded by Marie and carried. The following amounts were passed for payment: (Pat/Richard.) $35.00 reimbursement to Andy for for “Iolanthe” CDs. For the Mozart Concert: Flowers $180.00, Pianist $200.00, Advertising: $50.00. Janis has made arrangements for payment for the Palm Beach Hall during Mary Sullivan’s absence overseas—to be paid on 20th October. Financial Statement is attached—note amendments for Mozart concert.

General Business: Thanks were given to Richard for the marvellous job he did on the “Mozart,” and also to the men who shifted the piano from Palm Beach to St. Peter’s Church and back. The Choir performance for the Starship Christmas Crackerjack Garden Festival is to 1.00 pm to 2.00 pm at 64 Korora Road (past Fossil Bay Farm.) and a programme using numbers we have sung before will be put together. (Nothing of a Christmas nature.) The same programme could possibly be used for a performance at the Rest Home. The Christmas Concert is to be by A Capella only, and Jack is to write to Pat Canning (8 Tawa Street, Little Oneroa), asking for a booking for the Christmas Concert in St. Peter’s Church on 3rd. December, if this is possible for the Church, and a further letter to her sending the cheque for the donation to St. Peter’s. As Social Organiser, Andy has made a block booking for “Footrot Flats” of 20 seats at 7.00 pm on Saturday October 14th. The Society’s Christmas Breakup function is to be held on 5th. December (normal rehearsal night) and it was decided to go to the Golf Club again, but this time they are to be given a clear indication of the catering required. Jenny and Alan Knight are to be asked, and everyone is to bring a small gift (approx. $2.00) as “ammunition” for Santa.

Iolanthe: All is going well. There was a rehearsal for the principals today, but there were some who did not know. Andy will will do a phone-round of them another time. A rehearsal schedule is required—Richard will ask Robert Vale about this, and he also needs a cast list. Tuesday’s practice (19/09/06) is for ladies only. Maya will discuss the choreography with Robert Vale. The Orchestral Music arrives on 5th October, and the full cast will start blocking on the 3rd. October. Anne Sutch will take care of the costuming, and Jenny Knight will be Stage Manager. Fairy Cheryl is to be asked for an estimate for fairy wings.

The Committee wished Mark a safe journey, and a happy and successful time while he is overseas.
