Waiheke Choral Society: Music Director's Report #1 for AGM March 2021.

Hi everyone 2020 was the best year ever for me, I did absolutely nothing.

Well we did start the year with some idea of a concert in the middle of the year but something called level 4 lockdown intervened and that was the end of that.

A big thank you to Anne for the lovely concert at the end of the year and of course to our very capable pianist Carolyn.

I helped out with V12 in the last part of the year(interesting) and it was great to be part of the Christmas Concert at St Peters.

With the AGM coming up have a think about joining the committee, you could be just the person with some fresh new ideas we are looking for. DON’T BE SHY. We always manage to have a bit of laugh.

Cheers

Richard

Waiheke Choral Society: Music Director's Report #2 for AGM March 2021.

We were fortunate to end the year with two consecutive months at Level One.  This allowed choir to practice as normal.  We quickly learned a programme tailored for Christmas, with  seven new songs and two revisited.  They included traditional Christmas carols from four different countries, plus others by classical composers:  Bach, Handel, Holst, Rutter and of course Beethoven, as a tribute to his 250th birthday. Together with V12, we were able to present a Christmas concert in which each choir presented a bracket of songs and then the audience joined in singing well-known Christmas carols.  The concert was very well received, and we were able to give a significant donation to the Budgeting Service.  I would like to express my thanks to our pianist Carolyn and to the Committee for their work in keeping things running so smoothly.

Anne Willmann, Conductor November/December.
